Education Degrees and Certificates

Associate in Arts Degree in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer (AA-T)
Designed to prepare students for a seamless transfer with junior status and priority admission to a CSU campus for completion of a baccalaureate degree in Liberal Studies: Teacher Preparation or similar major.

Associate in Arts Degree in Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation (A.A.)
is designed to prepare students to transfer to a four-year institution for completion of a baccalaureate degree in Liberal Studies if interested in teaching at an elementary school (grades TK-8).  This program also prepares students to qualify for the California Child Development Permit with a School-age Emphasis, which authorizes work in the instruction of children in before-school, after-school, and other school age or publicly funded programs.

Teacher’s Aide Certificate of Achievement
focuses on excellence in the preparation of current and future k-12 Teachers’ Aides, and thus makes them more desirable as candidates for paraprofessional positions in k-12 public schools.  This certificate is designed to help current or future teachers’ aides enter or advance in the education field, or boost earning potential.

School Readiness Certificate of Proficiency
is designed as an interdisciplinary program to explore the field of education.  Upon completion of this program, students will be eligible to receive the California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, with a School-Age Emphasis, which authorizes work to assist in the instruction of children in before-school, after-school, and other school age or publicly funded programs.  Each course included in this certificate is applicable to the Liberal Studies AA degree, and is transferable to both CSU and UC.
