State Officials Discuss California’s Budget
Join us for:
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about California’s Budget but Were Afraid to Ask:
An in Depth Discussion with Assemblymember Nancy Skinner and Jean Ross, Executive Director of the California Budget Project
State Assembly Member Nancy Skinner (14th District) and Jean Ross, founding Executive Director of the non-partisan California Budget Project will present and answer questions on the state of California’s budget 2-4 p.m., Saturday March 27, in Berkeley City College’s Auditorium, 2050 Center St. between Shattuck Ave. & Milvia St. The forum is free and open to the public.
The forum, cosponsored by Berkeley City College, Berkeley City College Civic Engagement Club, Greenlining Institute, Berkeley Federation of Teachers, Berkeley Schools PTA, United in Action, Peralta PTA and the Cal Dems.
It will create a substantive dialogue about what brought California to this point. Jean Ross will provide insight and expertise as well as answer questions. She is a highly acclaimed state leader working tirelessly to improve the economic and social well-being of middle and low income Californians.
California faces budget problems of epic proportions. The national economic crisis leaves us once again with a revenue deficit that may result in more budget cuts to our schools, law enforcement, public transportation, and social services.
Thus, Californians are asking a very basic question: In what type of state do we wish to live? Let your voices be heard.
