Joanna Ruckman - Multimedia Arts

Joanna Ruckman, Mulitmedia Instructor

Education: Joanna is an interdisciplinary artist based in Alameda, CA.

Her work explores the intersections of social engagement and creative practice.

She is interested in the many layers of cultural identities performed on and by our bodies. She often creates art to further social justice, anti-racism, and human rights.

Joanna works for the Media Design team of the Oakland Frontline Healers. She also designs and prints posters for SFPoster Syndicate.

Her work has been exhibited in SFMOMA and the De Young Museum.

She received her MFA from SFAI in 2020 and earned a BA in Visual Arts and Cultural Anthropology from Brown University.
