Dr. Grikscheit is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California, as well as an attending surgeon at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). She also is a funded primary investigator at the Saban Research Institute. In addition, she consults with the intestinal failure team at CHLA and the Institute for Fetal and Maternal Health.

Dr. Grikscheit’s research, centering on tissue engineering and the role of organ-specific stem cells in intestinal development, has been reported in numerous peer-review journals and in national and international presentations. She has been awarded nearly $8 million in research grants since 2006 and is actively seeking a stem cell solutions for critically ill neonates. Dr. Grikscheit’s work was featured on the front page of the New York Times in 2012.
