“Bridging the Gap” Spanish Medical Interpreter Course Is Back at BCC! Berkeley City College is pleased to announce that Dr. Alvaro Vergara-Mery, PHD, CMI, will be teaching the 40 hour course this June 6-10, 2022. Dr. Vergara-Mery is a Certified Medical Interpreter, supervisor, and licensed trainer in the Cultural and Linguistic Services Department at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has extensive experience as a practicing medical interpreter in a Level I Trauma center that serves a large population of Spanish-speaking patients and he is nationally recognized for his advanced level workshops for medical interpreters. Dr. Vergara-Mery taught the 40 hour “Bridging the Gap Medical Interpreter Course” at BCC during the fall of 2019 semester, and will be teaching the course during the week of June 6-10, 2022.
