A few words about your experience at BCC: I only learned from books before. However, under the guidance of professors at BCC, I learned to think about other problems and reasons with critical thinking. It has changed my attitude towards my future work and life.

A few words about your experience at BCC: My overall experience at BCC was/has been positive due to the support and help from the EOPS program. I really benefited from the space available to EOPS students (pre-COVID), counseling appointments, and book vouchers.

A few words about your experience at BCC: I have been a student at Berkeley City College for almost 3 years and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I am living alone in the United States. All of my family lives in Eritrea.  In my spare time I like doing workout and hanging out with my friends. I  believe my background in studying for 3 years and working for 2 years for Adult Worker in Berkeley City College makes me the best student. my long term goal is working as an Administrator. This could not have happened without the support of the EOPS program and other supportive programs.


Name: Malia Knapps

BCC MajorPsychology and Sociology. Associate Degrees for Transfer in Psychology, Sociology, and A.A. in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Social and Behavioral Sciences.

What you will do with the degree you obtain:In the future, I hope to continue my contribution to the work of healing justice through research and clinical social work. Taking this path will allow me to contribute to a growing field of Black professionals working to change the landscape of culturally-relevant care for our communities.

A few words about your experience at BCC: My experience at BCC has shaped me into a well-rounded student and individual. My time here has allowed me the opportunity to grow and to propel myself in ways that I haven’t been able to do before. The growth I have experienced these last three years at BCC was life-changing. I am thankful for the EOPS counselors who advocated for me throughout my academic journey at BCC. Thanks to their support I was able to transfer comfortably.

A few words about your experience at BCC: During these past few years, I have been in great company at BCC. The determination of my mentors and peers has driven me to reach new heights which I never knew were possible before. It was inspiring to see the collaborative spirit of BCC and I will take that with me wherever I go.
