CalWORKs (California Work Opportunities and Responsibilities to Kids) is a program designed to provide the support and training needed for CalWORKs participants to succeed in both their educational and employment goals. As a CalWORKs participant at Berkeley City College, individuals join a supportive group that acts as a liaison between the student and the county, as well as provides the following student success support services.

  • Academic, Career and Personal Counseling
  • Job Development and Placement
  • Childcare Assistance
  • Work-Study Opportunities
  • Tutorial Assistance
  • Community resource Referrals
  • Continual One-on-One Support


If you are receiving CalWORKs/TANF cash aid for yourself and child/children and are a Berkeley City College Student or intend to become one, please come in to our office on the 3rd floor, Room 346, at 2050 Center Street, Berkeley or make an appointment by calling us at (510) 981-2847.
