Registered Apprenticeships combine paid on-the-job training with college coursework and mentorship, allowing apprentices to build practical experience while working toward industry-recognized credentials and college credit. Registered Apprenticeships in California are industry-vetted, paid programs recognized by the US Department of Labor and California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR).

Apprenticeship Program

 

Community Health Worker Apprenticeship:

A program supported by a California Apprenticeship Initiative grant that combines, professional mentorship, and, tuition-free, college-level, coursework.

 

 

Expanded Learning Apprenticeship:

Girls Inc. of Alameda County offers a two-year Expanded Learning Apprenticeship Program-the first program of its
kind in California. It allows participants to earn a wage while taking tuition-free college-level courses, gaining hands-on work experience, and earning 48 college credits toward an AA degree. The apprenticeship program is built as an "earn and learn" model, heavily tailored for emerging educators and youth workers in the East Bay. Program Partners include Berkeley City College, Early Care & Education Pathways to Success (ECEPTS), and the Partnership for Children & Youth.
Program Benefits:

    • Paid on-the-job training and work experience.
    • Free tuition for college courses.
    • Structured mentorship and professional development.
    • Accumulation of 48 credits toward an AA Degree in Child & Adolescent Development or Liberal Studies.

The apprenticeship program is designed to support aspiring afterschool program leaders, child development professionals, and individuals looking to jumpstart their careers in youth development.
