Certificates and Degrees

Child & Adolescent Development, AA-T
This degree prepares you to transfer to a CSU and earn a bachelor’s degree in Child and Adolescent Development or a related field. You’ll learn how children and teens grow, think, and learn—and how to support them as educators, advocates, and caregivers. This degree can lead to careers in early childhood education, youth development, parent education, or family support services.

Elementary Teacher Education, AA-T
Want to become a TK–6 classroom teacher? This degree sets you up to transfer to a CSU teacher preparation program with junior standing. You’ll take college courses in math, science, education, history, and the arts—all designed to prepare you for a teaching credential and a career in California elementary schools.

Liberal Studies: Teacher Preparation, A.A.
This degree prepares you to transfer to a four-year university and begin working in the field of education. You’ll build a strong foundation in child development, teaching strategies, literature, and social sciences—qualifying you for roles as a paraeducator, afterschool leader, or preschool assistant. You’ll also meet the requirements for the California Associate Teacher Permit.

School Readiness Certificate of Proficiency
This 12-unit certificate prepares you to start working right away as a teacher’s aide or paraeducator in TK–3 classrooms, preschool, or afterschool programs. You’ll take classes in education, family systems, and child development to qualify for California's Child Development Associate Teacher Permit with a school-age emphasis.

Tutor Training Certificate of Completion
This certificate helps you become a certified peer tutor trained under national standards (ITTPC). You’ll gain practical skills to support other students in reading, writing, math, and other subjects, while learning how to foster independence, motivation, and confidence in your tutees. Great for work in college learning centers, adult schools, and private tutoring.
