What is TAACCCT? The Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College Training (TAACCCT) grant is a regional engineering, manufacturing and logistics economic and workforce initiative to preserve and expand the East Bay region’s manufacturing and logistics economies. The Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) Act of 1974 provides assistance to workers laid off due to U.S. trade agreements. The Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) program received $2 billion in funding in 2010 as a result of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act. TAACCCT provides community colleges and other eligible institutions of higher education with funds to expand and improve their ability to deliver education and career training programs that can be completed in two years or less. TAACCCT workers and other adults will be prepared for high-wage, high-skill employment while also meeting the needs of employers for skilled workers.
