Admission of Non-Resident Students

Students who are considered “non-resident” students in California and who are looking to go to college or access higher education, pay much higher tuition fees than resident students.  In order to pay in-­state tuition, the college must determine that the student holds California residency for tuition purposes, or that the student meets the eligibility to be exempted from non-­resident tuition through AB 540/AB 2000/SB 68.

Housing

• The Centro Legal de la Raza also holds workshops on housing services: Centro Legal

 

• Eviction Defense Center also helps protect tenants from eviction: Eviction Defense Center

 

• The Multicultural Center located at 1920 7th Street Berkeley, helps immigrants such as day laborers find workforce training, job placement, housing, and educational opportunities.  Please click here for more information.

 

• UC Berkeley has an Undocumented Student Program where EOP and AB540 students can receive a deposit reduction and priority housing placement for affordable housing with the Berkeley Student Cooperative Legal Help

CHIRLA organizes immigrants and their families to fight harmful policies and demand equity and justice from our government. They help immigrants all over California to plan campaigns and organize people to make a change in the legal system. They have various groups that help Youth Leaders, College students, Immigrant Families and Low-wage Workers.
