About

The Safety Aide program began at the Berkeley City College in Fall of 2011.

For the 2018-2019 Academic Year BCC has been allocated 4 Safety Aides. All Safety Aides go through a background check and fingerprinting and must also pass a 40 hour training that occurs in the summer months of either July or August. Once they have passed the background check and completed the training they are then eligible to begin work.

The mission of the District-wide Safety Aide Training is to insure that all Safety Aides throughout the Peralta District are equipped with the necessary skills and training needed to service their campus in a professional manner.

Campus Safety Aide Oath of Honor

On my honor, I will never betray my responsibility as a Safety Aide, my integrity, my character, or the public trust. I will have the courage to hold myself and others accountable for the actions. I will always uphold the constitution and the community I serve. — adapted from the International Association of Chief of Police
