Courses: Religions of the World, Intro to Humanities

Dr. Mueller completed the Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the Graduate Theological Union here in Berkeley. She also holds a master of divinity degree from Pacific School of Religion and a bachelors from Bryn Mawr College. Mueller has taught for the Graduate Theological Union, Santa Clara University, and Las Positas College in addition to Berkeley City College. She is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Association for the Sociology of Religion, and Communal Studies Association. Her accomplishments include receiving the Christine Downing Dissertation Fellowship, two Newhall Teaching Awards, Barbara Marshman and Anne B. Fields Award, and a Graduate Student Paper Award from the American Academy of Religion Western Region. Mueller’s dissertation was titled, “Performed Polygamy and Polyamory in the Media Age: The ‘Tel-education’ of Nonmonogamous Religious and Spiritual Families in Reality Television.” Her specializations are in gender and sexuality studies and religion, religion and media studies, North American religion, and new religious movements. Mueller has taught part-time for BCC since Spring 2015. She teaches Humanities 40 (Religions of the World) and Humanities 1 (Intro to Humanities).
