Fall Part II.
Without knowing,
I’ve fallen into place
Unexpected friendships made
For such a small campus there is
A largeness
Of minds and hearts
Of people who say ‘yes’ to whatever they undertake
The working mother
Those already with full-time jobs, looking for something more
Those who had taken a class no where else before
The teacher who never gets enough credit
And all those else whose lives have weaved with mine

I smiled, nodded and signed my way to the classroom
Prerequisites, electives, transfer requirements
For the first time
I didn’t call my teacher mother
Or my classmates sister
Deadlines and due dates seared imagined trenches
Into my forehead
I carried a GPA in my backpack
Its weight pushing me down
Pressure I thought I couldn’t bare
