Group Study Room

Group Study Rooms

Group Study Rooms are available in BCC Library for groups who want to study and meet together. A group is defined between two and six people.  All BCC Library Study Rooms are ADA compliant. Only BCC students in good standing with the library are eligible to reserve a Group Study Room. Use of these rooms is subject to the Group Study Room Guidelines listed below.

Group Study Room Guidelines

Room scheduling is maintained at the Circulation Desk and is available on a first-come/first-served basis.
Individuals can use the room, but only as a walk-up if no reservation is currently in place for that room. The individual user must vacate the room if requested when it is needed by a group.
Students requesting the use of a Group Study Room must have a valid Peralta College Photo ID Card with a current sticker. Request for a room’s use must be made in person. NO EXCEPTION WILL BE MADE.
Group Study Rooms may be used in two-hour increments with a maximum use of four hours total per day (2 hours in morning; 2 hours in evening). Patrons may request an extension of one hour at a time if no other library patron has reserved the room. The library has board markers anddry-erase markers that can be borrowed with your current Peralta District student I.D. card.
Rooms must be reserved on the same day the room is needed.   No long-term reserve schedule shall be made. No individual may have more than 2  bookings  within a one-week period.
Upon registering, the student who checks out the room must provide the staff with the names of all group members and must accept full responsibility for any damage incurred while the room is in his/her custody. The student is strongly encouraged to inspect the room prior to use and report any pre-existing damage to the room. Any abuse of the rooms may result in revoking usage of the Group Study Rooms.
Rooms not occupied 10 minutes after the top of the hour will automatically be made available to others, first-come, first-served.
Rooms may not be “held” by an individual who is waiting for his/her groups.
The Study Rooms are not storage areas. Once a group or individual signs up for the room, it may remain unoccupied for no more than ten (10) minutes. The Library is not responsible for students’ lost or stolen property.
No food or drink is permitted anywhere in the Library..
Students who use a Group Study Room must agree to leave the room when asked to by a Librarian or Library staff member.
A group that is more than 10 minutes late forfeits the reservation.
All Rooms Must Be Vacated 30 Minutes Before the Library Closes.
