What is Berkeley City College’s Saturday Online Transfer College?

Our online transfer college is a combination online and in-class program which allows you to complete university-transferable classes by doing most of your class work online.

How much time must I spend doing my classwork online?

The amount of time you must spend for each class varies. For example, if you have a three-unit class, plan to spend about nine hours a week engaged in online projects and studying for class.

How much time must I spend in class?

If you enroll in Saturday or other online transfer classes, plan to spend an hour per week or two hours every two weeks, in class.

Do I need a computer at home?

Having your own computer helps, but if you do not have one at home, you can use Berkeley City College computers to complete your online work.

How do I know if online classes are for me?

You will do well in online classes if you can:

  • Use the computer.
  • Work independently with a minimum amount of classroom supervision.
  • Read and follow printed instructions.
  • Manage your time.
  • Work on your classes at home, at work, or other distance education venue.
  • Contact your instructor when you need help with the course.
  • Regularly work, complete, retrieve, and send projects and homework online.
  • Use the Web to interact and chat with instructors and classmates.
  • Work on class projects at times that best fit your busy schedule.

Are my online classes transferable?

Yes. Our Saturday Online Transfer College was developed to let you earn a transferable liberal arts associate degree, or to allow you to finish the University of California’s Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) requirements.

What might my Saturday Online Transfer College schedule look like?

Our Saturday Online Transfer College is designed to give you most of the classes you need to transfer to U.C., C.S.U., or to a private college. Your scheduled classes for one semester might be:
