Please join us in a reception for Oola/faculty member Jan Dove in Jerry Adams Gallery at BCC on Wednesday, March 13, from 6 – 8PM. And/or see the “Oolacentricity, a Feminist Critique of Western Art History” show in the Jerry Adams Gallery anytime from March 7 to April 18, 2013. The exhibit is open to the public and wheelchair accessible. Berkeley City College is located at 2050 Center Street, in downtown Berkeley, a half block from the Berkeley BART Station.
Following on the chicken/egg question – and along the lines of “Does language express our concepts, or does language create our concepts” – in this body of art and tomfoolery Jan Dove asks “Are images the result of our perceptions, hopes, and fears, or do images create and perpetuate our cultural/social experience.” How important is “High Art” and what is it doing to us? Oola takes on all questions in her own inimitable style.
