Distance Education

Distance education at Berkeley City College is a small but developing program.  At present, the PACE Program offers some classes that are telecourses. These classes are using only captioned videos. In addition, we do have instructors that provide all their class materials on-line. Our goal is to provide full access for our students with disabilities and to insure that communication for them, is as effective as it is for students without disabilities. Dr. Fabian Banga is the Coordinator of Distance Education.

To assist faculty in providing accessible distance education courses for our students with disabilities, the Office of the State Chancellor has provided the following guidelines. These guidelines are listed on the website of the High Tech Center Training Unit in Cupertino. This is a good resource for information on distance learning.

Podcasting is a way of delivering audio and video content via the Internet. It is growing in popularity with students and faculty as a way of delivering educational content.  It is an effective tool for Distance Education classes. Some aspects of podcasting are available in Faculty – Podcasts
