Berkeley City College received a $2.4 million award from the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) to support student internships in laboratories conducting research in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine. Each year between 8-10 students are awarded 10 month paid internships to work in research and pharmaceutical laboratories. The institutions can be either academic or industrial.
- Enrollment in one of BCC Biotechnology programs: A.S. degree in Biotechnology or the Certificate in Biotechnology.
- Completion of Scientific Instrumentation: Bio 50A (offered in the fall) and Bio 50B (offered in the spring).
- Completion of at least one of the following courses at BCC: Bio 34 (Molecular Genetics; offered in the fall) and Bio 33 (Applied Immunology; offered in the spring)
- Completion of courses in chemistry (inorganic and organic), biology, microbiology, physics, mathematics, CIS and English.
